Olympiacos participates in the BIG4SPORTS kick-off meeting!

 

Olympiacos continues its strong presence in the 2019 Erasmus+ projects participating in the BIG4SPORTS kick-off meeting. Representatives of eight sport organizations and clubs, including Olympiacos, will meet in the Catalan capital in order to discuss the final details on the implementation of the project.

Qualified to the CEV CUP quarter finals!

The men’s volleyball team achieved another success as qualified to the quarter finals of the CEV Cup winning 3-1 against Istanbul BBSK. The ‘’Reds’’ needed two sets in the rematch so as to seal the qualification and although were back with 0-1, overturned the score and qualified to the next round. So, the “legendary” European trip continues as the team will face the Bulgarian Burgas in order to qualify to the semi-finals. The first game will take place among between 28 and 30 January in Bulgaria and the rematch in Piraeus in two weeks later.

A crucial victory against Sopron!

Olympiacos got a historical victory over Sopron (63-52) in the ninth Euroleague match held in “Tasos Kabouris” sporting hall. The “Reds’’ were better throughout the game and did their first win in the competition. The hosts began the game well and went ahead with two points in the first period. The guests tried to overturn the score but Olympiacos reacted and led with 28-25 in the half time. The team of Giorgos Pantelakis was amazing in the third period making a 22-11 run to boost the margin to +14 (50-36).

A comfortable victory against Jadran!

The men’s water polo got the third victory at home winning Jadran (13-9) and did another important step for the qualification to the final-8 in Hannover. After Spandau and Mladost, the European Champions beat Jadran and reached 11 points in the group. The ‘’Reds’’ face Jug Dubrovnik in the next two matches and try to claim the first position.

Lost in details in Turkey!

Olympiacos fought for the victory in Istanbul but finally, was defeated by Fenerbache (76-68) in the eighth game of Euroleague. The team was bad in the first period and was back the score with 10 points. It improved its defensive performance and reduced to three points at the end of the first half. In the third quarter, the “Reds’’ withstood the Fenerbache attack and tied the game at the beginning of the fourth quarter (61-61). In the last five minutes, the Turkish team did a 9-0 run and ensured the victory.

Olympiacos footballers became official club members!

The message of unity and support which is the strength of Olympiacos family with the fans, has been spread by the football club players today. The players, Kostas Fortounis, Vasilis Torosidis, Lazaros Christodoulopoulos, Jagos Vukovic, José Sá and Leonardo Koutris visited the Olympiacos “Members’ and Fans’ Club” to receive the club cards proving their support to the Amateur departments.

Participation in EU projects for the promotion of sports and Olympic values

 

In 2019, Olympiacos continues its strong presence in the European Erasmus+ projects as it participates in 5 new initiatives having the coordinating role in two of them. The General Secretary, Christina Tsiligkiri presents these projects giving some details about the club social activities in the next year.

A draw against Szolnoki!

An exciting game was held in Hungary between Olympiacos and Szolnoki which ended in a draw (9-9). The European Champions was ahead with 8-7 one and half minute before the end and could win the game but Szoknoki overturned the score and led with 9-8. Gounas scored for 9-9 which was the final score. The ‘’Reds’’ took an important result in one of the most difficult swimming pools in the Champions League and continue their European journey aiming to qualify in the final-8 for the fourth consecutive year.
