Olympiacos made history in Budapest. The Hungarian Head Coach Zoltan Caszas and his assistant and current coach of the team, Thodoris Vlachos led the ‘’Reds’’ to the top of Europe. They won Jug (8-5) in the semifinal taking revenge for the defeat of the last season final in Dubrovnik. 

After the winning of the LEN Champions League, Olympiacos played another final in Budapest. As the holder of European Cup, Vasas hosted Olympiacos at its headquarters. The ‘’Reds’’ remained unbeatable winning 6-5 and celebrating the European Super Cup on 29 December 2002.
