Olympiacos organized the second meeting of the "Big4Sports" project with great success in Alexandras Square in the framework of the club participation in the European programme Erasmus +. Representatives of 4 European sports organizations (EPSI, SPORSORA, ICSS, Catalan Sport Council) and 4 European sports clubs (Hask Mladost, Bayer Leverkusen, Aalborg, Wiener) visited our country and the club's facilities to discuss the project details and the next steps.
The meeting started in the Monday afternoon, with Olympiacos General Secretary, Mrs. Christina Tsiligkiri welcoming the guests at the club's headquarters. The participants presented the ongoing work of the project focusing on the research into good governance in sports organizations and bodies as well as on the related problems they face. Also they referred to the communication policy that has been implemented and is expected to follow in the future to disseminate the project results and practices of good governance. On the second day of the meeting, the next steps of the project and its main implementation were discussed through a special handbook on good governance practices in sport. In addition, representatives of the EPSI which is the coordinating authority highlighted the cooperation among the stakeholders. The guests commented the excellent preparation and organization of the Olympiacos staff positively. They noted that Olympiacos demonstrated its suitability for coordinating such meetings and actions through European projects once again taking the lead in the implementation of new and innovative sport initiatives at European level.
The focus is now on preparing the next actions and the conference to be held in Paris in January 2020.
After the meeting, the participants enjoyed their dinner at the restaurant "Pizzoteca" with the kind sponsorship of Mr. Giorgos Glou.
Olympic Secretary General Christina Tsiligkiri stated: "We were very happy to welcome and host the representatives of the European sport organizations, in particular EPSI, SPORSORA, ICSS, the Catalan Sport Council and of the sports clubs Hask Mladost, Bayer Leverkusen, Aalborg, Wiener at our offices in order to discuss lots of interesting topics. The two-day meeting included productive discussions, presentations and proposals on the issue of good governance in sports organizations and clubs. We received very positive feedback for the excellent preparation of the event. Beyond that, we are now in the process of implementing what has been discussed. It would be desirable to be able to implement these methods trying to spread them in our country in cooperation with sports organizations and federations".
