Demonstrating its continued commitment to European collaboration and innovation in sport, Olympiacos S.F.P. took part in the latest meeting of the Erasmus+ project SPEED, further strengthening its active role in initiatives that promote education, health, and wellbeing through sport.
The meeting took place yesterday in Sant Cugat, Barcelona, within the framework of the EMCA (European Multisport Clubs Association) General Assembly, bringing together all project partners: Polisportiva Pontevecchio Bologna (Italy), University of Bologna (Italy), University of Genoa (Italy), Olympiacos S.F.P. (Greece), Levski Sport for All (Bulgaria), Ferencvárosi Torna Club (Hungary), Sant Cugat Creix (Spain), and Bohemians Praha (Czech Republic).
During the meeting, partners reviewed the progress of the project, which focuses on the prevention of eating disorders through sport, with a particular emphasis on children aged 9–14.
A central point of discussion was the analysis of findings from the focus groups conducted so far. Partners exchanged insights and concerns identified during the process, highlighting:
● the differences between young athletes engaged in high-performance environments and those participating in sport for recreational and wellbeing purposes
● cultural variations in body image perceptions and body types
● the need to adapt the project’s methodology and educational tools accordingly
In addition, discussions addressed the current phase of activities involving athletes, parents, and schools, as the project is now transitioning from research into the development and implementation of educational materials and interventions.
Partners also outlined the upcoming deliverables to be completed by the end of the year, as well as the next steps and actions to ensure the project’s impact at a European level.
Olympiacos S.F.P. continues to actively engage in Erasmus+ projects, reinforcing its position as one of Europe’s leading multisport clubs and promoting sport as a powerful tool for education, health, and social development.
