Handball Lessons at the Event "Access Everywhere": Sports for All, Without Barriers
With great success, the event titled "Access Everywhere" took place on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at the Peace and Friendship Stadium, as part of the European project HIEP – Handball International Education Project.
The event saw the participation of 40 individuals, including children aged 8 to 16, parents, and local coaches, who had the opportunity to:
· Experience handball through interactive activities,
· Receive educational materials,
· Learn about the values and tools of the HIEP program.
The main goal of the event was to highlight the importance of accessibility and inclusion in sports, focusing on areas and communities with limited access to organized sports facilities. The message of the event was clear: sports must be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, social background, or physical abilities.
During the event, the HIEP vision for the development of handball coaching at the European level was thoroughly presented, with strategic objectives:
· To increase youth participation in sports,
· To promote physical activity in daily life,
· And to combat childhood obesity, according to international indicators and the WHO report (WHO 2016).
The HIEP – Handball International Education Project is being implemented within the framework of the ERASMUS+ Sport program and aims to strengthen coach education, develop innovative digital tools, and promote equality and inclusion through sports.
