Olympiacos SFP continues its strong involvement in European initiatives, strengthening the connection between sports and education. As part of the HIEP – Handball Inclusive Education Project, the "Handball in Schools" event was successfully held at the premises of the Historic Club of Olympiacos SFP.

The event hosted 40 children from schools in Piraeus, along with parents and coaches, offering them the opportunity to:

·       Participate in hands-on handball activities,

·       Learn about the educational opportunities provided by the HIEP program,

·       Discover handball as a means of social inclusion and physical development.

The initiative was carried out in collaboration with primary and secondary schools in Piraeus, promoting the spread of handball within the school community and enhancing its pedagogical role.

During the event, the mission of HIEP to upgrade handball coach education across Europe was presented, offering:

·       Modern educational tools,

·       A digital platform with lessons and assessment tests,

·       Practical guides (Coaches Manual) with an emphasis on inclusion.

The project focuses on young athletes and aims to:

·       Increase children's participation in sports,

·       Establish physical activity as part of daily life,

·       And tackle childhood obesity, in line with the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO, 2016).

The event is part of the European HIEP project, which is being implemented through the Erasmus+ Sport program with partners from Italy, Greece, Romania, and Belgium.
