Participation in the EMCA General Assembly!

The General Assembly of EMCA took place in Brussels on Monday (4/2). Olympiacos delegation headed by Secretary General Christina Tsiligkiri was present at the annual meeting of the top European multisport clubs, showing its leading role in European sport actions.

The meeting started with the kick-off of the Multisport Academy project. The participants discussed the final details, budget and timetable. The objective of this action is to support learning mobility and exchanges while promoting the international dimension of sport. Thanks to their presence in the Project, they will give an added value to the entire network, promoting the international dimension of sport and contributing to the integration through the sharing of best practices with other three Clubs. Eight sport people (four coaches and four sport staff) coming from each of the four Multisport Clubs involved, will experience a period in the other three Clubs, visiting their structures and sport facilities. They will have the opportunity to meet new people, working in contact with them and seeing different techniques of doing their job in a different country. Thanks to this experience, all the participants involved will increase the baggage of experiences and the relationship among the Clubs will be strengthened, stimulating the creation of future mobility partnerships in next years.

The General Assembly of the Association took place with the participation of representatives of more than twenty European clubs. The meeting started with the greetings of the President of the Association, Vanina Milanova and the General Secretary, Federico Eichberg, who presented the representatives of each club and welcomed the new members of the Union. On the second level, the changes of the previous General Assembly were verified. It’s highly mentioned that all the members agreed to the election of Mrs. Christina Tsiligkiri in the EMCA Board as a proof of honour and respect for its contribution and participation in European actions. The meeting continued with the presentation of the actions that took place during 2018 and the approved projects for 2019. The General Secretary of Olympiacos did a detailed presentation of the actions of the ‘’You ‘re Hope’’ project and its impact on the local community, while introducing the two new projects (My Olympic Experience and Sports For Different Heroes) to be implemented during 2019. The other representatives expressed their positive comments for Olympiacos especially for its communication and dissemination policy. In the last and most important part of the Assemply, the participants discussed new proposals and opportunities to be submitted in April and implemented in 2020. The Olympiacos delegation presented 7 different ideas with the following topics:

Know and practice of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games

The Revival of the Ancient Olympic Games

Sport careers for non-athletes

Street sports for the reduction of crime

Active and Healthy Ageing through Sport

Paralympic sea sports

Sport tourism

The above suggestions have received very positive comments and have been accepted by the majority of EMCA members highlighting Olympiacos innovative approach to sport European initiatives. The clubs are now focusing on the preparation of the proposals and their submission to the European Commission.
