Olympiacos was defeated by Sopron Basket (85-69) in Hungary. The ‘’Reds’’ faced the last year finalist being competitive in the first period but the 13-0 run of the Hungarian team in the second one got difficulties and couldn’t come back. Johnson scored 14 points and Thomas did 12.
Olympiacos started the game well and led with 11-15. Sopron scored five consecutive points and went ahead with 16-15. Thomas gave the lead to Olympiacos again with 21-25 but the hosts took the advantage of Olympiacos’ mistakes and did an 8-0 run (29-25). Spyridopoulou reduced to a point and Pavlopoulou gave the lead to the ‘’Reds’’ again. The bad offensive attempts of Olympiacos in the next minutes gave the chance to Sopron to go ahead with ten points (42-32). Dubei scored a three-point shot to increase the margin to +15 (51-36) before Nikolakopoulou reduced to 51-39 which was the final score of the first half.
In the second half, Sopron kept the game under control and boosted the difference to +17 (68-51). Olympiacos reacted and closed the margin with two three-point shots by Stamati and Pavlopoulou (68-59). Then, the hosts ran a new streak and led with 81-60. In the last minutes, Olympiacos players scored consecutive shots but didn’t avoid the second loss in Euroleague.
