The women’s basketball team was defeated by Carolo with 73-68 in the sixth game of Euroleague. Olympiacos was better in the first half but Carolo pressed and took the lead before the end of the third period. The “Reds’’ fought in the last ten minutes but didn’t achieve to overturn the game. Spyridopoulou was the top scorer with 15 points and Pavlopoulou added 12 ones. 

Key action: 

Olympiacos was very good in the first quarter and led with seven points (14-21). At the beginning of the second period, Carolo reduced to 19-21 but the concecutive points of Kosma and Nikolopoulou boosted the margin to +11 (21-32). Carolo dropped the margin to five points (29-34) and a three-point shot led to 32-34 with 2:40 remaining. The “Legend” replied with Stamati and Johnson and Pavlopoulou increased the difference to +7 and +9 repspectively. Stamolamprou did a sho and the first half ended 35-43. 

In the second half, the hosts were better and reduced to 42-43. Olympiacos kept the lead with 47-55 three minutes before the end of the quarter. Carolo replied with a 5-0 run and went ahead with 59-55 before the end. The ‘’Reds’’ tried to overturn the score with their defense but two consecutive shots by the French team boosted the margin to 66-58. Olympiacos closed the score with Spyridopoulou (68-65) but finally, Carolo won with 73-68.

Giorgos Pantelakis stated: ‘’We have to focus on our turnovers because we did 22 in the whole match. We were good on the defense at some moments but conceded 24 points in the third quarter. We tried to stop the Carolo offensive performance but Lewis found some free shots and we couldn’t face her. She scored 21 points in the first half. We must correct our turnovers and our plays’’. 

Anna Spyridopoulou mentioned: "We knew that the game would be difficult. We fight for the victory in each game but today, we weren’t able to win. Carolo is an experienced team with very good players. In the last ten minutes, we lost our concentration and Carolo got the victory’’.
